Thomas P. Curtis was born in New York City; He married Denise D. Willman of Chicago;  together, they had five children.  He is a retired US Army Reservist; active in the Episcopal Church; Past Governor General of the Order of the Founders and Patriots of America, Past president of the New York State Society of the Cincinnati and a leader in various other societies; past Grand Prior and a Knight Grand Cross in the Sovereign Military Order of the Temple of Jerusalem; Past Master of his Lodge in Freemasonry; and plays the bag pipes on occasion.
